Does acne last forever? How to keep acne away once skin is clear?

Question by deer: Does acne last forever? How to keep acne away once skin is clear?
Had acne for a year and a half.

FINALLY cleared my skin. No miracle treatment or anything. Just used benzoyl peroxide (Clearasil) but I believe it was just thru being patient and persistent.

However the minute I stop using benzoyl peroxide, face breaks out immediately. I don’t want to have to use benzoyl peroxide forever. I’ve heard it ages the skin b/c it dries it out so much. And my skin actually does look as if it’s aging prematurely (lines, wrinkles, dull).

What can I do to keep acne away once I all cleared up?

acne is easy to lose. just cut off all your skin. acne is cause because of sebation glands in your skin…so by the transitive property of pain, just remove your skin!

use Clearasil or proactive every night when you was your face. Also, i know its weird, if you use face masks like once a week they really help. (Rite aid sells cheap natural face masks clay and avocado if your interested) ((Yes it’s supposed to sting for a sec, natural minerals and what not)) (((Triple bonus!!! Because it’s natural it’ll rejuvenate your skin without the aging stuff)))
Anyway, just wash that face of yours!!!! ^-^

    hiya.
i was like in your position not long ago. and what i did was, i used 2 tablespoons of salt and mix it in a bowl with about 2 cups of water, make sure its all mixed together ok?
then you just apply it to your face, and leave it for about 2 minutes. THEN you wash it off with WARM water, not hot because that will take away the nutrients and stuff of the salt. and pat your face dry. you may get a stinging pain but thats actually becasue the salt is entering all the imperfections and clearing away all the dirt, it keeps away ALL the pimples, you simply have to do that 3 times a week, and it will keep them away. after about three to four weeks, you dont have to use the salt anymore, your skin shoud be used to having no acne/pimples and it can rely on itself to keep them away.
i swear this works, trust me? =]
    much love.!!

I’ve tried all the facial soaps in the stores without much success. I got online and found a soap that doesn’t dry the face out and totally eliminates my blackheads. It’s Cuticura. It has an antibacterial agent, and that is what really hurt the blackheads. I also use Dial antibacterial soap. All Dial soap is antibacterial, and I use the old-fashioned gold bar. Dial would do a decent job on your face, and you should definitely use it in the shower; but Cuticura won’t dry your face and should stop your acne. The shipping at the website is about $ 4 if you use the USPS standard shipping option.

I know how yah feel. I struggled with acne when I was younger, I started using clearisil products anything with sacylic acid in it is really good for acne and it won’t dry out your face. Retin A and benzoyl peroxide is very harsh on your skin and both of these products can dry out your face and make it crack. I use a Clearisil astringent it’s a pink fluid in a clear bottle and I put it on my face when I get break outs and is good for both on the spot treatments and for daily use. Once you stop using the product it doesn’t make you break out again. Mostly acne comes from hormones and most people grow out of it with age.

Congrats on the clear skin! Don’t want to burst your bubble but there is a chance of your acne coming back due to the fact that your body is going to become resistant to the medication and therefore requiring stronger doses to keep it in control.

But in the meantime, I have some tips on my blog to help keep acne away:

Try this easy, effective method uses one kitchen-cupboard herbal ingredient, and calls upon the power of a warm compress to open pores and allow the healing benefits of the herb to work on blemished skin. The compress method is more comforting and quicker to use than a facial steam, but is every bit as effective.
SIMPLE SOLUTION: Here are the simple how-to instructions to help clear troubled skin:
    INGREDIENTS

    1 quart water
1/2 to 1 cup dried thyme leaves (for a VERY strong infusion)

    1. Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. Remove it from the heat and add the thyme. Cover the pan and steep the mixture for 20 minutes, then strain out the herbs and discard them. Let the infusion cool to warm. (You should be able to put your hand in the infusion and keep it there for several minutes without discomfort.)

    2. Soak a clean washcloth with the infusion and wring the excess from it. With your eyes closed, place the washcloth on your face for 15 minutes. Remove the washcloth from your face and apply an astringent.
    Good luck
    Peace

  17. Beautiful Nature says:

To get rid of your pimple use a mixture of equal parts organic apple cider vinegar and distilled water or water that you have boiled on the stove and allowed to completely cool. Put the half and half solution on the pimple with a clean cotton pad two or three time a day.

In a few days the pimple will be almost not even there. After the pimple has cleared, use a milder solution of one table spoon of organic apple cider vinegar mixed with one care of pure water. Keep the solution in the refrigerator in a clean sterilized container and try not to put the cotton pad directly on the container and always use a clean cotton pad. Apply the solution with a cotton pad after your cleanse your skin.

Do not use the clear white vinegar on your skin because it it not made with the care that the organic vinegar is made with. And, when you see the slime in the bottom of the organic vinegar is really a natural sediment — that is the true sign of raw, unfiltered vinegar.

wash regularly….look at your diet…that has a lot to do with acne….and your age the older you get the less the break out occur…..go to a dermatologist that may help also

  19. Jolie 07 says:

If Clearasil works for you but you don’t want to be stuck with it forever, why don’t you just try to use it like once a week or twice a week or probably whenever you need it as a maintenance thing. Also, try to use moisturizers to prevent dull, dry and wrinkled skin. Acne doesn’t last forever. Most people get acne during their teens because of their hormones. While some people start having them when they get a little older(adult acne). It’s a case to case basis. Also, why don’t you try that salt water face wash suggested by 2 people who answered your question. That sounds interesting plus I think salt has healing properties as I used to hear when I was young when I used to go to the beach that it helps treat some minor skin problems. Goodluck!

There is no cure for acne! These other comments that say that acne is not permanent are wrong! If you don’t continue to use some kind of acne treatment, the acne will come back! Ask any dermatologist!
